1. The Wizard of Oz - Children'sTheatre

Follow the yellow brick road to a magical, larger-than-life adventure your whole family will be talking about! The Wizard of Oz at Children’s Theatre Company brings Dorothy, Toto (played by a real dog!), and her lovable crew to life in a dazzling stage production packed with the iconic songs you know and love. From the moment the tornado hits to the colorful land of Oz, kids will be wide-eyed at the flying monkeys, the glimmering Emerald City, and the unforgettable characters along the way. This grand production runs April 21 through June 14, 2026.

2. Free State Park Entrance Day - Saturday

If your family is craving some fresh air, this is your sign to get outside! On Saturday, enjoy free admission to all Minnesota State Parks, making it the perfect day to explore somewhere new or revisit a favorite like Afton State Park. 3. Bell Museum/SMINC Mash-Up - Sally Manzara Interpretive Center - Sunday

Science meets fun at this special Bell Museum mash-up event at the Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center! In addition to the center’s regular exhibits, families can enjoy hands-on activities, traveling displays from the Bell Museum, and interactive learning experiences led by museum staff. It’s a great way to spark curiosity in kids of all ages while sneaking in a little learning through play. Expect engaging, kid-friendly stations and plenty of opportunities to explore, touch, and discover together.

4. Pippin a Musical - Tartan High - Oakdale - Friday to Sunday

Support local talent and enjoy a night out with Pippin, a vibrant and thought-provoking musical performed by Tartan High School students. This high-energy show combines music, dance, and storytelling as it follows one young person’s journey to find meaning and purpose. With its magical feel and powerful themes, it’s a great option for families with older kids—best suited for ages 10 and up. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 3pm, making it easy to fit into your weekend plans.

5. Free Admission Day at Historic Sites & Museums Across Minnesota

Take advantage of this special Free Admission Day and explore Minnesota’s rich history without spending a dime! The Minnesota Historical Society is opening the doors to several popular sites across the state, including Mill City Museum, the Minnesota History Center, Historic Fort Snelling, and more. Most locations are open from 10am–4pm (hours may vary), giving families plenty of time to wander, learn, and experience everything from local stories to iconic landmarks. It’s a fantastic opportunity to mix education with adventure—just be sure to check each site’s hours before heading out and plan your stops ahead of time!
