TOP FAMILY PICKS THIS WEEK 

1. Masters of the Sky: A Gathering of Owls - Hastings - Saturday

Experience the wonder of live owls at “Masters of the Sky” at Carpenter Nature Center in Hastings. This indoor live raptor show features a Barn Owl in silent flight and the impressive Eurasian Eagle Owl, while guests learn how owls hunt, adapt, and survive in Minnesota’s ecosystems. Showtimes are Saturday & Sunday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Recommended for ages 6+, tickets are $15/person or $10 for Friends of CNC. Advance purchase is required for this popular family wildlife event.

2. Free Tuesday Admission Day at any Washington County Parks - Tuesday

Enjoy free admission to Washington County Parks on the first non-holiday Tuesday of each month, including Lake Elmo Park Reserve, Big Marine Park Reserve, Square Lake Park, St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park, and more. Families can explore scenic trails, enjoy self-guided adventure hikes, and stop by welcome centers for special activities when available. No vehicle permit is required, making this an easy and budget-friendly outdoor activity.

3. Music & Movement with Special Guest - Stillwater Library - Wednesday

Families can head to Stillwater Public Library for a high-energy music and movement program featuring Wendy Baldinger. Held in the Margaret Rivers Meeting Room, this engaging preschool event encourages singing, dancing, and interactive fun. No registration is required, and it’s developmentally designed for ages 3–5. Two shows.

4. Family Moonlight Snowshoe and Bonfire - Oakdale - Registration Required - Saturday

Spend a magical winter evening at Oakdale Discovery Center during this guided moonlight snowshoe adventure led by Wahoo! Adventures. Families will trek luminary-lit trails before warming up indoors with a movie night, s’mores, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. Snowshoes are provided, and children under 18 must attend with an adult. Registration is required.

5. Healthy Kids Running Spring Series - Starting April 19th

Looking for a spring activity for kids? The Healthy Kids Running Series kicks off April 19 at Middleton Elementary School. This five-week Sunday program for Pre-K through 8th grade features age-appropriate races ranging from 50-yard dashes to 1-mile runs. Pre-K races are non-competitive.
