As a mom, I’m always looking for ways to keep my family healthy, happy, and connected—and summer in Washington County is the perfect time to do just that by eating fresh and local. With spring fading into those warm, sunny summer days, it's the season to savor the best fruits and vegetables Minnesota has to offer—straight from our own community.

Whether you're looking for pick-your-own farms (hello, adorable berry-stained smiles and family photo ops!), signing up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) box, or strolling through one of our vibrant local farmers markets, there are so many family-friendly ways to enjoy the season's bounty.

When we choose locally grown produce in Washington County, we’re not just feeding our families delicious, nutrient-rich food—we’re also supporting sustainable farming practices and the hardworking local farmers who keep our community thriving.

Pick-Your-Own (PYO) Farms in Washington County

I love turning errands into adventures, and there’s nothing quite like a hands-on day at one of the pick-your-own (PYO) farms around Washington County. Watching my kids’ faces light up as they pick fresh fruits and veggies right from the fields is priceless—and it’s a wonderful way to teach them about where our food really comes from. Here are some of our favorite PYO farms that are open now and perfect for a family outing:

Local CSAs 

By joining a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in Washington County, you’re not only supporting local farmers but also treating your family to a regular supply of fresh, seasonal produce all summer long. CSAs are a fantastic way to introduce your kids to new fruits and veggies, teach them about healthy eating, and reduce trips to the grocery store. Plus, it feels good knowing your food is coming straight from local farms to your kitchen. Here are some wonderful CSA options to explore:

Pahl's Market

Details: Pahl Farms offers a traditional CSA where members buy a share before the harvest season and receive a weekly box of fresh, seasonal produce.

Enjoy flavorful, nutrient-rich food, discover new veggies and recipes, and build a connection with the farmers who grow your food. Members can visit the farm, take part in harvest events, and take home extra produce to preserve for winter. You’ll be surprised what your kids will eat when it comes from “their” farm!. Enrollment ends June 15th.  Pick up locations in Woodbury and Cottage Grove.
